Identification via Raman Spectroscopy
Optical detection of Carbon Hydrides via
Absorption Spectroscopy is very difficult due to weak absorption of
the Carbon Hydride molecules. Furthermore, it is very difficult to
distinguish between different types of Carbon Hydrides via Absorption
Spectroscopy. A more suitable detation method is Raman Spectroscopy.

The graphic shows a Raman Spectrum of Acetone and
Ethanol. Different types of Carbon Hydrides can be directly identfied by
the value of the Raman shirt of the signal. Optical detection is very
powerful since the measurement can be ´performed over distances without the need
for any direct contact with the Carbon Hydrides. For more information, please
