QCL Benchtop Laser Controller
Technology Update - QCL Lasers

Description:
Typical operation conditions of QCLs are 250K operation temperature, pulsed operation current of 1A .. 5A with pulse length of 50ns and a repetition rate of 100kHz. Sacher Lasertechnik developed a new driver concept which fulfill these requirments with excellent performance.

Pulsed Emission Mode
The graph shows the optical pulses emitted by a Quantum Cascade Laser operated with 80nm electrical pulses. The different traces are detected for different pulse current values. The decrease of the optical power during the pulse emission is caused by the temperature change within the active region of the QCL.

Laser Power - Injection Current - Characteristic:
The presented figure shows a typical Laser Power - Injection Current (PI) curve of a Quantum Cascade Laser. The laser was operated with 80ns electrical pulses and with an an operation temperature of 250K. The Quantum Cascade Laser Controller is suitable to operate Pulsed Quantum Cascade Lasers as well as Continuous Operating Quantum Cascade Lasers. A special feature of the  Quantum Cascade Laser Controller is the low current noise which makes is excellent tool for spectroscopy applications.
