Raman Spectroscopy: In-Vivo Glucose DetectionDiabetes is one of the fastest growing deseases in the present time. It requires a frequent detection of the glucose level within the blood. The detection of glucose is very painful because it is required to get some blood for analyisis, i.e. by a fingerstick. Therefore, large efforts are currently performed for overcoming the fingerstick tests.
Optical detection of Gulcose via absorption spectroscopy is very difficult due to weak absorption of the glucose molecule. A more suitable detation method is Raman Spectroscopy.
LighTouch Medical and Sacher Lasertechnik Group have formed a strategic partnership for developing a Raman based in-vivo measuring method for glucose. This method is suitable to replace the painful fingerstick test in the near future.
The graphic shows a Raman Spectrum directly measured by LighTouch Medical with a Sacher Laser System in-vivo without using a finger stick. The accurancy is comparble with conventional fingerstick tests. For more information, please contact us.
